The Constance and Martin Silver Center on Data Science and Social Equity (C+M Center) is pleased to announce Round 7 of its Request for Proposals for Fiscal Year 2027: the Social Work Innovation and Impact Award.

The award will support bold, equity-centered research that harnesses artificial intelligence, data science, and emerging technologies to improve health, well-being, social service delivery, and social equity. One award of up to $25,000 in direct costs will be made for FY27.

This year’s RFP includes several updates: a new award name, an optional applicant information session, a policy allowing reapplications, and streamlined application requirements.

KEY DATES:

Optional applicant information session: August 18, 2026, 12:00 PM ET
Letter of Intent due by email: September 18, 2026, 11:59 PM ET
Full application due: October 16, 2026, 11:59 PM ET
Anticipated project start date: January 1, 2027

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to Silver School of Social Work full-time faculty, clinical or tenured/tenure-track, and to C+M Center-affiliated investigators serving as Multiple Principal Investigators with an eligible Silver faculty member listed as the contact PI.

Prior C+M Center awardees may submit a new proposal no earlier than 180 days after the final approved end date of their previous Center-funded project, provided that the project has been completed and the required final report submitted.

The Center especially welcomes proposals that move promising ideas toward real-world impact, including interventions, tools, platforms, implementation pathways, open-source resources, licensing opportunities, startup concepts, or other approaches that can strengthen social work, human services, behavioral health, public health, and related fields.

Letters of Intent and full applications should be submitted to silver.cmscenter@nyu.edu with “Social Work Innovation and Impact Award” in the subject line.
